CHRISTIAN COALITION -- ACTION ALERT

July 9, 1998

Next week, Members of the House will be back in Washington for what
promises to be an extremely busy week addressing pro-family legislation.
Because these issues are moving fast and furious, efforts at the
grassroots remain critical.  Members of Congress need to hear from
Christian Coalition activists.  Thank you for your faithful work!

Below is the schedule for the legislative action expected to occur next
week.  Please refer to past Action Alerts for details on each issue.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:

Doolittle Amendment -- an amendment to the Shays-Meehan "campaign
finance reform" which will "gut" Shays-Meehan's free speech restrictions
and ensure protection for our voter guides, scorecards and Action
Alerts.  Urge your Congressman to support the Doolittle Amendment.

Child Custody Protection Act (H.R. 3682) -- A bill making it a federal
crime for anyone other than a parent to transport a minor across state
lines to obtain an abortion.  Urge your Congressman to support the Child
Custody Protection Act.

National Endowment of the Arts -- an amendment will be offered on the
Interior appropriations bill to restore last year's funding of $98.5
million to the NEA.  Urge your Congressman to oppose funding the NEA.

Hefley Amendment -- an amendment to the Treasury-Postal appropriations
bill which prohibits funding for President Clinton's Executive Order
which included "sexual orientation" as a special protected group.  Urge
your Congressman to support the Hefley amendment.

SENATE:

Ban on Internet Pornography (S. 1482) -- a bill sponsored by Senator
Dan Coats (IN) which restricts minors' access to Internet pornography.
Urge your Senators to vote for Sen. Coats's Ban on Internet Pornography
